For the safety and security of our guests, please adhere to the following policies:
- Proper behavior is expected from all of our guests. Offensive Language, including racial or sexist comments; or other intimidating actions will not be tolerated and are grounds for removal from RFK Stadium.
- Please refrain from throwing objects on the playing field, entering the playing field, blowing whistles, and interfering with the flow of the game. Violators will be ejected from the stadium and subject to arrest.
- We require that all persons entering the stadium be searched for prohibited items. This includes a thorough inspection of all jackets, coats, packages, bags, backpacks, purses and any other containers brought to any of the stadium entry gates. In addition, guests may be randomly selected for security screenings with hand-held metal detectors.
- Ticket scanning technology is in use at all entry gates. Guests may not exit and re-enter the stadium using the same ticket.
- Retain tickets for Event Staff to verify proper seat location. Be prepared to show your tickets each time you enter your assigned seating section.
- Sit only in your assigned seat to avoid inconveniencing other guests. Offenders will be escorted from the Stadium. Aisles must be clear at all times. Upper Level (400 & 500 sections) is not open for seating unless specified for certain events.
- Smoking is prohibited in all seating areas and restrooms. Smoking is permitted only in open-air areas such as concourses. Offenders will be escorted from the restrooms of RFK Stadium.
- Confetti and streamers are permitted ONLY with prior approval from Guest Services. Streamers are not to be used to impact on-field competition or thrown toward a player, referee or stadium staff member. Violators may be removed from RFK Stadium.
- Drums, drum sticks, and musical instruments are allowed into the stadium provided they fit on your lap or at your feet and are not disruptive to surrounding guests. Any guest who brings in a musical instrument will be required to sit in a designated supporter section. Please visit Customer Service at the Main Gate for special ticketing information or exchanging your ticket(s) for a ticket in a designated supporter section.
- Guests may not exit and re-enter the stadium using the same ticket. However, in the event of an emergency, guests should contact a gate supervisor, who will permit a guest to re-enter the stadium at the same gate. Guests who leave the stadium at any time, without authorization of a gate supervisor, will not be permitted to re-enter.
- Small, compact umbrellas with no metal points will be allowed in the stadium.
Management reserves the right to handle each occurrence on a case-by-case basis. There are no check-in areas or lockers available at the facility.
Some events such as concerts, international games, and other sanctioned events may prohibit banners, flags, musical instruments or signs. Please contact Guest Services at 202.587.5472 for stadium policies during special events.
Signs, Banners, and Flags
Signs, banners, and flags are permitted provided the item falls within the following guidelines and the ticketed seat of the guest in one of the designated Supporter Seating Locations:
- Item may not obstruct facility signage.
- Item may not contain or display any profane, offensive graphic, obscene language and/or pictures as determined by event management.
- Item is not taped glued, or secured using an adhesive agent in any kind.
- The hanging of the banner, flag, or sign does not in any way damage the stadium walls, paint, railings, glass, or any stadium property.
- Item may not be constructed of wood, metal, or any other material that may cause harm to others as determined by event management.
- Item may not contain commercial or political messages of any kind.
- Item may not be used as a projectile.
- If desired, a sign or banner may be attached to a holding device, provided it meets all of the following requirements.
- The pole MUST be made out of a hollow ½ (half) inch PVC Pipe no longer then 3.5 (three and one half) feet long. Any pole longer then this must be pre-approved by event management.
- In the event that a banner, flag or sign does not meet the above guidelines, be prepared to discard the item or return the item to your vehicle. The item will not be stored, secured, or kept for return by RFK Stadium.
Team management reserves the right to remove banners or signs that they deem incendiary or of provocative nature in the interests of fan and team safety.
Alcoholic Beverages Policy
Guests are expected to follow all laws governing the purchase, possession, and consumption of alcohol. Guests are responsible for their own drinking, and are expected to drink responsibly. It is the responsibility of each guest to ensure that they have a safe means of transportation when leaving the facility.
- Any guest who is impaired before entering RFK Stadium will be denied entry into the facility. Any guest found intoxicated within the stadium and causing a disturbance, as determined by management, will be asked to leave the facility without any refund and may be subject to further consequences.
- No alcoholic beverages may be brought inside RFK Stadium. District of Columbia law prohibits the sale of alcoholic beverages to persons under the age of 21. Therefore, guests should be prepared to show proper identification and proof of age when purchasing alcoholic beverages at RFK Stadium.
- General alcohol sales will end at the 70th minute of the match but may also be discontinued earlier at the discretion of D.C. United and RFK Stadium. Guests may not take any alcoholic beverages out of the stadium.
- Event management reserves the right to eject and have cited any individual(s) under the age of twenty-one (21) who illegally purchases, possess, or consumes alcohol. Individuals under the age of twenty-one (21) who are visibly intoxicated are also subject to ejection and citation as determined by management. Individuals providing alcohol to those under twenty-one (21) will also be ejected and subject to citation.
Smoking Policy
Smoking is prohibited in all seating areas and restrooms. Smoking is permitted only in open-air areas such as concourses and stadium ramps. Please extinguish cigarettes safely and place them in appropriate receptacles. Offenders will be ejected from RFK Stadium.
Animals
Certified service animals or service animals in-training for guests with disabilities are welcome at RFK Stadium. All other animals are prohibited.
Bags & Backpacks
Guests may not bring hard containers or coolers into RFK Stadium. No bags larger than 16 inches x 16 inches x 8 inches will be allowed into the stadium. All bags are subject to inspection.
Bottles, Cans & Containers
Guests are not allowed to bring any metal, plastic, glass or aluminum bottles, cans or containers of any kind into RFK Stadium. If a guest is found to be in possession of these items inside the stadium, he or she will be subject to ejection from the stadium.
Outside Food & Beverages
Outside beverage and food is prohibited inside RFK Stadium, however special exceptions will be made for small children or individuals with specific food allergies. One clear, plastic, factory-sealed, water bottle per person is permitted during heat advisories only. Please contact Guest Services for more information.
Cameras / Video Equipment
Guests are permitted to bring cameras and video equipment into RFK Stadium provided they are intended for personal use only. Professional and commercial grade cameras are not allowed in the stadium. Only credentialed media are permitted to bring cameras with a lens longer than 8 inches, monopods or tripods inside the stadium. Guests are not permitted to stand in the aisles, portals or walkways, or obstruct others from viewing the game while taking photographs.
Laser Pointers
All laser pointers and pens are prohibited inside of RFK Stadium.
Wireless (Cell) Phones
Use of wireless phones is permitted throughout the stadium provided it does not interfere with other guests' enjoyment of the game.
Event Seating Policy
D.C. United are committed to providing an affordable fan friendly, high quality entertainment experience in a facility rich in tradition. In order to ensure all of our fans receive the full value of their investment, only those persons with a ticket for a particular seat will be able to occupy that seat. D.C. United Guest Services and Contemporary Services Corporation (CSC) security personnel will check tickets to safeguard each customer's investment as a ticketed seat holder.
Exit and Re-entry Policy
Guests may not exit and re-enter the stadium using the same ticket (even during doubleheader events with the Washington Freedom). However, in the event of an emergency, guests should contact a gate supervisor, who will permit a guest to re-enter the stadium at the same gate. Guests who leave the stadium at any time, without authorization of a gate supervisor, will not be permitted to re-enter.
Fan Interference
Major League Soccer and D.C. United promote good sportsmanship by athletes, coaches, and spectators. We request your cooperation by supporting the athletes and officials in a positive manner. Offensive Language, including racial or sexist comments; or other intimidating actions directed at officials, athletes, coaches, or team representatives will not be tolerated and are grounds for removal from RFK Stadium. Please refrain from throwing objects on the playing field, entering the playing field, blowing whistles, and interfering with the flow of the game. Violators may be arrested and escorted off the premises.
Petitions and Leaflets
Petitions, leaflets and other unauthorized merchandise may not be distributed or sold on the RFK Stadium grounds, including stadium parking lots. An individual must receive approval from D.C. United management to engage in any such activity.
Resale of Tickets / Scalping
Resale of tickets above face value is prohibited on RFK Stadium grounds. Violators are subject to arrest and prosecution by the Metropolitan Police Department.
Weapons and Firearms
Weapons and firearms of all kinds are prohibited in RFK Stadium, with the exception of law enforcement officials’ licenses to carry weapons.
